There is a common experience between our experiences today and those before the Civil War many years ago.  The effect of the intersection of faith and politics during these two experiences has had on the elections and governance of our nation is uncanny in their similarities.  Both times an election insurrection was stopped by the sitting vice president.  During both times, people of the same faith were on both sides of the day’s social issues, claimed God’s favor, and were willing to divide the nation over those competing positions.  

This unique writing bridges the divide between secular and sacred writing.  Secular authors focus on outcomes of elections, views on policies, and denominational trends.  Sacred authors focus on different perspectives.  Some are highly critical of the political behaviors of people of faith.  Some offer an apologetic approach for pastors and clergy because of the difficult circumstances jeopardizing their careers.   This writing covers the secular results caused by the sacred issues of faith. This is a unique writing relevant to our times.

“Evidence of Things Unseen” Chapter 10 audio tag

This chapter discusses the “polarization” of faith communities which is defined as to be divided into two distinct groups with no middle ground. The author contends that this polarization often causes “single issue” voting which results in supporting political candidates that demonstrate very little “integrity of faith” as described in chapter 8.
