Fractured Christianity – A Republic in Peril

“Fractured Christianity – A Republic in Peril” describes racism as the besetting issue of our nation since its beginning.  Racism in our nation originally targeted Native Americans and imported West Africans.  The politicization of faith supported these actions causing division in our young nation and eventual war between the states.  That initial racism has expanded in different ways fracturing our nation politically, socially and in our faith communities.

The author offers a simple solution to this complex problem using the basic biblical solution to any fractured relationship.  That is “repentance” or literally “to change one’s mind”.  Decide to have a conversation, not regarding who is right or wrong, but how can we “agree to disagree.”  It seems like a simple task, but it is one of the most difficult conversations to have in our current political, social and faith relationships.   A systematic group read through book study groups or individual study of this text clearly explains how our nation has become “fractured” but more importantly how our nation can begin to heal.  It is worthy effort to try for the sake our collective faith in both God and our country.
