Couldn’t Stop Reading (a Book Review)

When receiving Jerry Aveta’s book, “The Evidence Of Things Unseen,” in the mail sent from the publisher at no charge, I was intimidated. The small type, long sentences, limited paragraphing for 182 pages appeared very gray. It could only be boring and be more time consuming than I wanted to spend reading.

However, some urge, a sign from Above perhaps, tempted me to open the book and start reading. Truth be known, I could not put the writing aside. I read it from cover to cover without skimming any pages.

Although there are parts that are above my head, the straight forwardness without pulling any punches kept my mind absorbed. While Mr. Aveta’s life has been much different than mine, there definitely are similarities.

What struck home and made the book most memorable was the interpretation and clarification about intersection of the natural with the supernatural. While I have long felt that to be a fact, I was unable to define it accurately as he does.

Having grown up a Methodist and attending a variety of churches including Pentecostal services, I was destined to be a Catholic by desire and experiences. Personally, I prefer to be considered a Cathocostal like a horse event evangelist said last Sunday, he was a Bapticostal.

What difference does it make? God cares nothing about religion but belief and service to Him. God loves everybody and is eager for them to return that love with all of their heart, mind and soul.

Lying is obviously a serious issue in today’s world, and everybody tells what they consider small fibs. That’s still lying. Everybody tells more than 10 lies every day, but most people would lie that they do not ever lie. There are two sins.

God is an all knowing, all loving, understanding, all forgiving God as Mr. Aveta relates.

With multiple marriages, internal family issues, complex work situations, being close-up to government misdoings, a pastor, advisor, consultant and eagerness to serve his God, Mr. Aveta discusses every angle without embarrassment or cover-up.

Happiness is not being the most popular, having more money, new home, fancy cars, expensive clothes, beautiful women, handsome men, it is in believing and following God’s directions as ordered in the Bible. God’s Plan is always right. God speaks soft and slow requiring patience, sometimes years, but He always answers every prayer in His Way with what is best for the one praying

Everybody should read “The Evidence Of Things Unseen” by Jerry Aveta whatever their faith, beliefs, background and experiences. The world will then become a better place.
