The Power of Faith

Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine Under Attack

The above picture by CNN captured the nuclear power plant in Enerhodar, Ukraine under fire from Russian missiles. Nuclear power plants are dependent on intricate control systems and water pumping stations to maintain safe operating temperatures in the nuclear reactor. The analyst on the CNN broadcast made the statement that a lot of things can go wrong in such a complex operating system as it is in a nuclear power plant and that is why you normally do not shoot at these types of facilities. This makes sense. However, as time passed it was clear that the intent of this assault was not to puncture the reactors protective shield and cause a leak of radiation that would spread throughout Ukraine and in all likelihood neighboring countries, but rather to gain control of a critical source of electrical power. Apparently, the Russian tactical strategy is to interrupt all the requisite necessities of life for the people of Ukraine like power, food and water in order to breakdown the resistance and surrender to Russian control. Additionally, the Russians have canceled all cell phone access and replaced Ukraine TV with Russian TV broadcasts to further isolate Ukranians and make surrender inevitable. But the Ukranian people seem undeterred in their resilience to fight, to resist, to stand for their independence, their freedom, their country and their faith. They are living proof of 2 Corinthians 12: 10 “Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

David writes in the Book of Psalms “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7) David was a warrior and a king.  His experience was such that he had to rely on chariots and horses in the course of battle.  But his ultimate security was his faith and his trust in God.  An unknown psalmist writes “No king is saved by the multitude of an army; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength.  A horse is a vain hope for safety; neither shall it deliver any by its great strength.  Behold the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.” (Psalm 33:16-18) These ancient, time-tested writings tell us to not rest on our own strength and capabilities but to hope and trust in the only One that can rescue from death and famine. That is the power of faith. The Ukranian people are demonstrating to the entire world the power of faith. That is a power that cannot be turned off by man. Let us agree with them in faith. Mathew 18:18-20 states “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again, I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” What if everyone that reads these words will agree with me for the Ukranian people’s welfare and their continued strength to stand in faith tonight. There is the likelihood that this site will get over 1,000 views over the next 24 hours. If only a fraction of those visitors can read these words and agree with us, we can see mighty things happen for the Ukranian people in faith! So, let’s agree in faith for their safety and their liberty and their victory. We stand in faith with them this night in agreement for the glory of their faith in God! Amen and amen!
